Current Mute Progress
Mute is a Linux based Buzz clone, designed to be 1:1 compatible to the discontinued but popular modular music tracker Jeskola Buzz, currently in an alpha development stage. It also occasionally builds and runs on Windows.
Here's a current in-development screenshot:
I wrote this primarily as a new frontend to libzzub, a complete Buzz compatible player and editor library, which is primarily developed by Batman (yes ;) and me. Batman/Calvin wrote most of the backend for Buzé, a Windows frontend for libzzub. After I ported the backend, I found it to be too cumbersome to port Buzé to Linux due to its heavy use of ATL and WTL, which are both non-free, besides it's (intended) deviation from some of the original UI concepts, hence this new approach. Mute is 100% Python, and made to be easily extensible by skilled users. Give it a go.
The source should, with a lot of hassle, also build on Windows.
I am steadily progressing, having just finished a LADSPA bridge that allows to use almost all LADSPA plugins inside Mute. I will do an initial release of Mute this sunday. There are a few issues that block users from doing anything useful with it besides a bit of testing and fooling around, and they need to be sorted out first.
Edit: I'm not going to do a release yet. I don't feel the application will be of much use to users yet. If you are interested in a version in development, get it from SVN.

Awesome!
I've gotta tell you, I'm absolutely stoked for Mute! Ever since I switched to Linux a few years ago, I've been using Buzz in WINE, longing for something better.
I do believe I've found it. :)
Ahhhhh I can't wait...

My only question: will it be able to open current Buzz Machines? I mean, even they being window$ DLLs?
CONGRATULATIONS, MATES!
